We are moving to the Nimbus Disability Access card for everyone wishing to book an essential companion ticket for all our 2025 events, this means that we will no longer accept the following documents as checks of eligibility:

  • PIPs / DLA with mobility at the higher rate
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Blind Person’s Registration
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment

Why we have decided to partner with Nimbus Disability:

  • We believe that everyone has the right to access quality entertainment without barriers.
  • To help provide us with greater understanding of the needs of our access customers we have chosen to work with Nimbus Disability, who is the company behind the innovative and award-winning Access Card. This card is helping to improve the lives of tens of thousands of disabled people by enabling them better access to entertainment venues across the UK and wider afield.
  • The Access Card has been adopted by a significant number of other organisations, including Merlin Entertainment (Alton Towers, LEGOLAND etc.) and locally Norwich Theatre Royal.

The card helps to alleviate the frustrations felt by all when trying to book an essential companion:

  • For disabled visitors, it means that they do not have to e mail personal documents each time they wish to book.
  • We can provide an instant confirmation of the essential companion ticket when the booking is made over the phone (we anticipate that once registered any future bookings can be made on-line without the necessity to phone the Box Office).
  • For Thursford it will remove the frustration of interpreting the client’s documents and will remove the additional administrative burden it places on the team.

Applying:

You can of course apply for a Nimbus card at any time (please note we do already accept the Access card with the +1 or +2 symbol for essential companions for the 2024 season), however when the full programme launches in December there are two version of card that you can apply for:

  1. The free version, known as a Digital Access card for use at Thursford only. The process is the same as  applying for the £15 version, but to reiterate, it can only be used at Thursford. It will normally be valid for three years. This option will only be available to apply for from 1 December 2024 and we will issue a communication in advance with the link to apply.
  2. The full Access Card (available now), the card costs £15 for up to three years’ membership (dependent on individual circumstances). The full card provides you with the same benefits as the free registration, with the addition of the following:
  • Recognised at venues across the UK & beyond
  • Potential free companion tickets at events and venues across the UK
  • Receive a Photo ID card with symbols relating to accessibility needs
  • Informative online access directory
  • Access to a closed Facebook Community group

This facility is available to sign up to now, to register for £15, valid for three years, click here.

When you register, Nimbus Disability will handle all your information securely and safely without Thursford ever having cause to see the detail behind why you need accessible seating options.

If you are not able to use online forms and would be unable, because of the nature of your impairment, to access online sales you do still need to register. Nimbus will be able to assist with telephone registration on 0330 808 5108.

The principle symbols we will encounter are:

  • +1 & +2 – for those who require an Essential Companion/s.
  • Assistance Dogs – for those who need to bring an Assistance Dog.
  • Standing & queueing (Fantasy Land)
  • Misc – where applicable and appropriate.

In the meantime if you have any questions please e mail [email protected] and we will endeavour to help.

THURSFORD COLLECTION

Equality and Diversity Policy

The Thursford Collection is dedicated to encouraging a supportive and inclusive culture amongst the whole workforce. It is within our best interest to promote diversity and eliminate discrimination in the workplace.

Our aim is to ensure that all employees and job applicants are given equal opportunity and that our organisation is representative of all sections of society. Each employee will be respected and valued and able to give their best as a result.

This policy reinforces our commitment to providing equality and fairness to all in our employment and not provide less favourable facilities or treatment on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, ethnic origin, colour, nationality, national origin, religion or belief, or sex and sexual orientation. We are opposed to all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination.

All employees, no matter whether they are part-time, full-time, or temporary, will be treated fairly and with respect. When the Thursford Collection selects candidates for employment, promotion, training, or any other benefit, it will be on the basis of their aptitude and ability.

All employees will be given help and encouragement to develop their full potential and utilise their unique talents. Therefore, the skills and resources of our organisation will be fully utilised and we will maximise the efficiency of our whole workforce.

Our commitments:

  • To create an environment in which individual differences and the contributions of all team members are recognised and valued.
  • To create a working environment that promotes dignity and respect for every employee.
  • To not tolerate any form of intimidation, bullying, or harassment, and to discipline those that breach this policy.
  • To make training, development, and progression opportunities available to all staff.
  • To promote equality in the workplace, which the Thursford Collection believes is good management practice and makes sound business sense.
  • To encourage anyone who feels they have been subject to discrimination to raise their concerns so we can apply corrective measures.
  • To encourage employees to treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • To regularly review all our employment practices and procedures so that fairness is maintained at all times.

The Thursford Collection will inform all employees that an equality and diversity policy is in operation and that they are obligated to comply with its requirements and promote fairness in the workplace.

The policy will also be drawn to the attention of the Trustees, funding agencies, stakeholders, customers, learners, and job applicants.

The Thursford Collection equality and diversity policy is fully supported by senior management.
